About MAP
NSI-MI Technologies' Multi-Aperture Probes are a line of dual-linearly polarized, high-performance probes covering 8.4 to 40.0 GHz. By enabling simultaneous multi-probe acquisition, MAP technology can achieve up to 8x faster PNF measurements compared to traditional single-probe approaches. Each probe assembly spans a full waveguide frequency band aligned to standard waveguide band designations, and is supplied with typical probe pattern correction coefficients for Planar Near-Field (PNF) measurements.* The circular aperture is optimized for near-field array measurements, and knife-edge profiles minimize backscatter for improved accuracy. Supplied as highaccuracy calibration items, each probe includes standard absorber and a mounting cage compatible with most NSI-MI planar scanners. Every assembly ships in a rugged storage case and is designed and manufactured for many years of reliable service.
*PNF probe pattern coefficients provided are compatible with the NSI2000 software. For other availability and compatibility with other antenna measurement software please contact sales.
How it Works
In a traditional planar near-field measurement, a single probe moves across a grid in front of the antenna under test, collecting field data one position at a time. A second scan is typically required to capture the opposite polarization.
MAP accelerates this process by using four apertures to collect both polarizations across multiple gridlines at once. At each scanner position, MAP gathers eight measurements, reducing the amount of scanner travel required and eliminating the need for a separate cross-polarization pass.
NSI-MI acquisition software automatically creates the optimized MAP scan pattern, while processing software handles the resulting measurement data within the existing PNF workflow. Together, this approach enables up to 8x faster PNF measurements compared with traditional single-probe methods.
